4 mln euro Mecafor plant opens in Kikinda

KIKINDA - A 4 mln euro plant built by French metal autoparts maker Mecafor was opened in Kikinda, northern Serbia, Thursday.

The ribbon was cut by Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic, French Ambassador Christine Moro and Kikinda Mayor Pavle Markov at a ceremony also attended by Mecafor owner and president of the board of directors, Nicholas Grosdidier.

BELGRADE -- The majority owner of the Kikinda, northern-Serbia based brick and tile manufacturer Toza Markovic has been arrested, the daily Blic is reporting.

The suspect is Belgrade businessman Dejan Babic.

The case concerns "abuses in privatizations," according to the report.
