North Korea Warns Its Citizens of Upcoming Famine Crisis

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has told citizens to prepare for hard times ahead, following warnings from rights groups that the country faces dire food shortages and economic instability.

Speaking at a party conference, Mr Kim appeared to compare the situation to the devastating 1990s famine, estimated to have killed hundreds of thousands.

North Korea Will Skip Tokyo Olympics over Covid-19 Concerns

North Korea has announced it will not take part in the Tokyo Olympics this year, saying the decision is to protect its athletes from Covid-19.

The decision puts an end to South Korea's hopes of using the Games to engage with the North amid stalled cross-border talks.

 In 2018, both sides entered a joint team at the Winter Olympics which led to a series of historic summits.

North Korea fires multiple suspected cruise missiles: Seoul

North Korea on April 14 fired several suspected cruise missiles towards the sea, the South's military said.    

The "multiple projectiles" fired from Munchon in the east of the country were believed to be "short-range cruise missiles," the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
