Bulgaria celebrates 138 years since its Unification
Today marks 138 years since the declaration of independence of Eastern Rumelia from the Ottoman Empire and its union with the Principality of Bulgaria. In major cities throughout the country, the Bulgarian flag will be solemnly raised, military rituals will be performed and wreaths will be laid in memory of the dead.
Bulgaria: Yellow and Orange codes for Heavy Snowfall on Wednesday
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) announced a yellow and orange warning code for heavy snowfall and snow cover in eight areas of the country on February 2nd. This is what the map shows with the warning codes for dangerous meteorological phenomena, published on the NIMH website.

"Storms and precipitation are expected in Southeastern Bulgaria. Now the sun is shining in the eastern part of the Upper Thracian Plain and the Southern Black Sea Coast. Elsewhere in the country there is significant cloudiness, it will break, but where the sun shines, the most powerful cumulonimbus clouds form. They are electrified enough to cause strong storms.
Maximum Temperatures Today Between 2°C and 7°C,
Today the cloud will tend to break and melt away. More considerable cloud will persist over parts of the Upper Thracian Plain and Southeast Bulgaria.

Cloudy Skies with Rain Today, Frost is Possible
Today the weather in the country will be cloudy and rainy, with significant amounts of rain in Central and Eastern Bulgaria. In the west of North Bulgaria, amid temperatures close to zero, there will be conditions for frost.

Bulgaria Celebrates 133rd Anniversary Since Unification of Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia
Today, September 6, Bulgaria marks 133rd anniversary of the unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and the province of Eastern Rumelia. A number of formal events will take place throughout the country. The celebrations will culminate in Plovdiv, where the head of state, President Rumen Radev, will take part in a solemn ceremony at Saedinenie Square and will deliver a speech.
Dozens of Villages in Southern Bulgaria are Without Electricity
Dozens of villages in southern Bulgaria are still without electricity, Nova TV reported.
Electricity South said they are working to restore electricity to affected villages.
The situation in the regions of Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan and Kardzhali is normal in winter conditions.
Heavy Rains Expected in 8 Bulgarian Districts on Friday
Code yellow warning for potentially dangerous weather conditions has been issued for eight Bulgarian districts for Friday, September 26.
Code Orange For Torrential Rains Declared
Code orange for torrential rains is declared for 8 regions in Bulgaria, reports the BNT public broadcaster.
In the regions of Burgas, Yambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Kurdzhali, Plovdiv and Pazardzhik the rains are expected to be most intense.
In the afternoon the rains would most likely abate, but the situation would remain unstable.
