French actor in Istanbul to monitor yacht’s renovation

World-renowned French actor Gerard Depardieu has visited Istanbul's shipyards center in the district of Tuzla to monitor renovation works of his trawler, which is being converted into a yacht.

Getting briefed by Turkish yacht designers, the 73-year-old actor boasted about Turkish yachting in an interview on May 7.

Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was unable to hold Christmas Eve Mass for the first time in more than 200 years after a fire ravaged its structure in April.

With heavy hearts, French Catholics instead gathered at the nearby church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois, a few hundred meters away, for a service celebrated by the cathedral's rector Patrick Chauvet.

For safety reasons, the mass led by Archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit will be celebrated on a very small scale - with only about 20 people. All of them will wear helmets for their own safety.

The service will be televised.
