A court in Turkey's capital on Sept. 20 ordered the re-arrest of the former co-chairs of the opposition Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), according to judicial sources.

The Turkish government does not have an early election in its agenda, ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) spokesperson Ömer Çelik has said, after the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader brought up the issue, saying the government might "have to go to early polls" due to economic troubles.

A delegation of four from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) has paid a visit to main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. The visit came just a week after HDP mayors of eastern Diyarbakır, Mardin and Van provinces were suspended over alleged links to terror organizations.

The Nationalist Movement Party's (MHP) Presidency Council on May 6 praised the decision of the Supreme Election Council (YSK) to do over the Istanbul municipal elections on June 23.

The Supreme Election Board (YSK) is expected to conclude its weeks-long inquiry into the Istanbul elections and announce its final verdict on May 6 or May 7 amid growing tension between the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP).

Binali Yıldırım, former Istanbul mayoral candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), has said that the Supreme Election Council (YSK) will have the final say on the party's pending appeal of election results.

Turkey's main opposition CHP's candidate in Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, called on the High Election Board (YSK) on April 2 to mandate him as elected mayor, after the ruling AKP objected to results that saw him earn a narrow victory over his rival Binali Yıldırım.
