Ambassador Mitrofanova will Propose to Putin the Closure of the Russian Embassy in Bulgaria

Ambassador Eleonora Mitrofanova announced that she intends to propose to the leadership of her country to close the Russian embassy in Bulgaria because of Sofia's refusal to cancel the decision to expel 70 Russian diplomats and officials.

"The decision of the Bulgarian authorities to expel 70 Russian diplomatic and technical officials is not independent, but is dictated by external forces". This was stated at her regular weekly briefing by the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova.

Black smoke was visible over the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sofia, a Eurocom reported.

The reason for what is happening is still unclear.

The reasonable assumption is that the embassy burns documents because the temperature is 30 degrees Celsius and it is too warm to light a fireplace or stoves for heating.
