Walking along the top of Lithuania's decommissioned nuclear reactor, the set of HBO's critically acclaimed "Chernobyl" TV series, tourist Vytas Miknaitis says he's not "afraid at all."

According to Horizont, the Russian company Rosatom and the Korean Hydro Nuclear Company have submitted applications to the Belene NPP strategic investor selection process to date. China's CNNC is also expected to submit documents by the end of the day.

The deadline for submitting applications for the Belene NPP project expires. Today it will be clear who are the candidates for the construction of a second nuclear power plant in Bulgaria.

Bids are expected to be submitted by US General Electric, a Chinese, Korean and French company. Last week, Russia's Rosatom reaffirmed its desire to participate in the project.

"There is a strong interest in the Belene NPP construction project. The candidates are expected to submit bids by the middle of the month," former NEK Executive Director Peter Iliev said.

Russian nuclear power plant shut down three of its four reactors automatically because of a short-circuit in a transformer, the radiation level remains normal, said Rosenergoatom.

The first, second and fourth reactors of the Kaliningrad NPP were disconnected. It is located 350 km northwest of Moscow in the Tverskoy District.

According to British "Sun", there have been 25 safety breaches at the massive nuclear waste plant in the past two years.

Iran said on July 7 it was set to breach the uranium enrichment cap set by an endangered nuclear deal within hours as it seeks to press signatories into keeping their side of the bargain.    

NPP Kozloduy's sixth block was shut down from the country's energy system after the electrical protection was triggered, the plant said.

It happened just before 14:00.

All systems of the block have worked according to the design algorithms.

At the moment, the Nuclear Power Plant teams remove the causes of electrical protection.

Iran will no longer respect limits it agreed on its enriched uranium and heavy water stocks under a 2015 nuclear deal with major powers, officials said on Wednesday,  FocusNews reported.
