Russian forces simulate nuclear strike as upper house rescinds ratification of test ban treaty

 

Russia's military conducted a simulated nuclear strike in a drill Wednesday overseen by President Vladimir Putin, hours after the upper house of parliament voted to rescind the country's ratification of a global nuclear test ban.

Putin to deploy "Satan"

Last night, during a speech at a ceremony marking the end of military training in the Kremlin, he warned that "the special operation in Ukraine gave the Russian army invaluable experience." "Satan II", originally named "Sarmat", can carry up to 16 nuclear warheads and has a range of 18,000 km.

G7 leaders, including the heads of nuclear-armed Britain, France and the United States, arrived at the city's Peace Park to a sodden red carpet welcome from Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who is from Hiroshima.
