My Silly Paintings | Athens | December 20 – January 7

Visual artist and social psychologist Elpida Rikou's solo exhibition at the Or.Artspace (orartspace.com), "My Silly Paintings Are a Nutcracker," may take you back to a time of frustration. The series of drawings made during the pandemic, despite their bright and cheerful colors, portray something introspective and often dark through Rikou's use of language and space.

Tchaikovsky Festival | Athens | December 22 – January 7

The internationally acclaimed Imperial Classical Ballet of Ukraine presents three of Tchaikovsky's most loved works over the Christmas holidays at the Athens College Theater (15 Stefanou Delta, Psychiko). "The Nutcracker," "Sleeping Beauty" and "Swan Lake" will capture the magic of Christmas in a celebration of the legendary composer's greatest work.

The Nutcracker | Athens | December 23-29

Russia's renowned Bolshoi Ballet Academy is in Athens together with top soloists from the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra to present Tchaikovsky's world-renowned Christmas ballet, "The Nutcracker." Performances take place from December 23 to 29 at the Galatsi Olympic Hall. The ballet is based on E.T.A Hoffmann's tale "The Nutcracker and The Mouse King," first published in 1816.

Russian Romantics | Athens | April 3

Acclaimed Albanian cellist Renato Ripo and award-wining Russian pianist Philipp Kopachevsky join forces at the Athens Concert Hall on Wednesday, April 3, for a tribute to the great Russian romantic, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, with a program that includes extracts from "The Nutcracker" in a unique transcription for solo piano by renowned contemporary pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev.

Tchaikovsky's Christmas classic, "The Nutcracker," has an obligatory place on the holiday program of the Christmas Theater initiative at the Olympic Hall in the Athens suburb of Galatsi, in a production by the St Petersburg Ballet Theater. Shows take place through December 30, starting at 8 p.m. on weekdays, at 4 and 8 p.m. on Saturdays and December 26, and at 12.30 and 5.30 p.m. on Sundays.

Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra | Athens | June 26 & 27

Award-winning maestro Vladimir Fedoseyev conducts the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra (TSO), the historic Russian ensemble which he has led as artistic director since 1974, in works by the celebrated composer for two Greek Festival shows at the Herod Atticus Theater in central Athens.

The TSO will be joined by the distinguished, award-winning Russian pianist Varvara Nepomnyashchaya.

The Nutcracker | Athens | February 3, 8, 10 & 11

Italian choreographer and artistic director Renato Zanella directs the Greek National Opera Ballet in a children's version of Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker," with fairy-tale sets by Christof Cremer from the Vienna State Opera. Shows take place weekdays at 11 a.m. and Saturdays at 6.30 p.m. on February 3, 8, 10 and 11, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC).
