NUTS statistical regions of Bulgaria

The south-eastern Bulgarian region is among the 23 regions in the EU with the smallest share of young people who have completed secondary education, according to Eurostat data for 2021.

There, less than three-quarters of the 20- to 24-year-old population have a high school diploma.

Code yellow for low temperatures is in force for 9 districts in southwestern and southern Bulgaria - Sofia, Sofia - region, Kyustendil, Pernik, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Haskovo, Smolyan and Kardzhali. Minimum temperatures in these regions reach minus 15 degrees.

For Tuesday, February 16, a yellow code for cold is declared for the whole of Bulgaria.

It will be rainy in most regions of Bulgaria today, as heavier rainfalls are expected in southern Bulgaria.

Today the rainfall will continue in many areas of the country, wet snow in the northwestern regions, meteorologist Hristo Hristov, National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, told Focus News Agency. Considerable amounts of rain are expected in the southwestern half of the country.

By 2030, 42% of this country's population is expected to live in 6 cities - Sofia, Plovdiv, Ruse, Burgas, Varna and Stara Zagora. At the same time, a village disappears every month, Smolyan is the region with fastest shrinking population in the EU.

Yellow code was announced for 7 districts in Bulgaria over intense rain, according to the website of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH).
