Newly detected fish-dwelling parasite named after Turkey’s Adana province

A parasite found dwelling on garfish species in Mediterranean waters, home to an exceptional diversity of marine life, has been named after the southern province of Adana after it was detected in the waters near the province's Yumurtalık district.

"This parasite will be called 'Caligus Adanensis' from now on," said Argun Akif Özak, an academic from the Çukurova University.

Crete registered highest rainfall and temperature in 2020

The island of Crete recorded the highest temperature but also the highest volume of rainfall in 2020, according to a report presented by the National Observatory of Athens on Tuesday.

The report presented last year's records for rainfall and temperature, based on data collected by its automated network of weather stations, NOA-meteo.

Another Quake Rocks Greece

An earthquake measuring 4,8 on the Richter scale was registered to the south of the Greek island of Crete, local news wires reported minutes ago. The epicenter was at 20 km to the south of small island of Gavdos, the southernmost point of Greece.  

So far no casualties or destructions have been reported.
