Heavy Rainfalls in Japan, Authorities Are Preparing to Evacuate More than 700,000 People
At least 710,000 people in southwestern Japan have received a recommendation from local authorities to leave their homes and move to evacuation centres because of heavy rainfall in the region, BTA reports.

An Iranian government spokesman says the oil aboard an Iranian tanker pursued by the US has been sold to an unnamed buyer.
The Adrian Darya, previously known as the Grace 1, carries 2.1 million barrels of crude, worth some $130 million.
Numbers of German tourists decline
A recession at home, combined with Greek hotels' loss of competitiveness, due to their being overburdened by taxation, and the recovery of destinations such as Egypt and Turkey, has led to a drop in the number of German tourists this year.
Reservations by Germans on Crete were down 6 percent in July compared to the same month last year, while those in Rhodes dropped 5 percent.

Gavdos mayor puts an end to beach glamping venture
The mayor of the southernmost Greek island of Gavdos said Thursday that it has put an end to a business venture by a woman from Hania on Crete who had set up seven tents on beaches and rented them out to tourists via online platforms.

Greek grid operator launches tenders for $1 bln power link
Greek electricity grid operator ADMIE on Friday launched two tenders to build two undersea cables linking the island of Crete to the mainland, the energy ministry said.
The 915 million euro ($1 billion) project will be completed by 2022, the ministry said.
