Turkish security forces seized weapons, explosives and ammunition in an operation against the PKK terrorist organization, local authorities said on Oct. 6. 

The ammunition cache was seized Tuesday by the local gendarmerie forces and soldiers in the countryside of the southeastern Hakkari province, said a statement by the governor's office.

A Turkish soldier was killed in northern Iraq after he was wounded in a bomb blast, the National Defense Ministry said on Sept. 17. 

Infantry specialist sergeant Umit Solak was seriously injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) went off in the Avasin region, the ministry said a statement.

He succumbed to his injures in hospital, it added.

A wanted PKK terrorist and two collaborators were arrested in an anti-terror operation in southeastern Turkey, the country's Interior Ministry said on Aug. 27.

Turkey told Washington's envoy it took the "strongest" exception to a U.S. statement on the massacre of 13 Turkish citizens over the weekend, said the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"Today, U.S. Ambassador David Satterfield was summoned to our ministry, and our reaction to the statement by the US was voiced in the strongest terms," said a ministry statement on Feb. 15. 

Some countries that claim to be fighting terrorism are either silent over the PKK group's execution of 13 Turkish citizens in Northern Iraq or they are trying to slur over it, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Feb. 15.

The PKK terrorist organization, which attacks Turkey from regions in Iraq where it has nested, also challenges Iraq's sovereignty, territorial integrity, security and stability, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Aug. 12. 

Turkey will continue its cross-border operations against the illegal PKK group in northern Iraq if Baghdad continues to overlook the group's presence in the region, the Foreign Ministry said on Aug. 13, urging Iraqi authorities to cooperate with Ankara.

Turkey "neutralized" 112 PKK terrorists in domestic operations since last week, the Interior Ministry said on April 22. 

The counter-terrorism operations, being carried out by gendarmerie and police forces, began on April 15 to thwart terrorist attacks, the ministry said in a statement.

Iraq's Foreign Ministry on April 16 summoned the Turkish ambassador over Ankara's counter-terror operations against the YPG/PKK in northern Iraq.

Iraqi authorities registered their protest over the operation, Fatih Yıldız told Anadolu Agency after the meeting in the capital Baghdad.
