Historic Breal Cup at Louvre
The historic cup won by Spyros Louis, the first marathon winner of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, which was inspired and designed by Michel Breal, will travel this year to the Louvre Museum in Paris.
The cup was acquired at an international auction by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) in order to make it accessible to the general public.

Olympics: Paris 2024 flame to be lit on April 16, organisers say
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games flame will be lit on April 16, marking the countdown to the July 26-Aug. 11 event in the French capital, organisers said on Friday, confirming an earlier Reuters story.
The flame will be lit at Greece's ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Games, and will remain in the country until its departure to France from Athens on April 27.

Andreja Leški wins silver at Judo Worlds
Judoka Andreja Leški won silver for Slovenia at the World Championships in Doha on 10 May, having to concede to multiple world and Olympic champion Clarisse Agbegnenou of France in the final yet again.
Competing in the under 63kg category, Leški had also won silver at the 2021 World Championships in Budapest after being defeated by Agbegnenou in the final.

Bulgaria to replace Russia on the Qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris
Because of the war in Ukraine, the World Basketball Association did not admit Russia to the qualifications for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024. Bulgaria was admitted instead of the Russian basketball players, thus our men's national team gets the opportunity to fight for participation in the Olympic Games next year.
