Kayaalp becomes world champion for fifth time
Turkish wrestler Rıza Kayaalp has broken new ground by being the world champion for the fifth time.
The Greco-Roman style wrestler has bagged the gold medal in the 130kg category in the World Wrestling Championships in Serbia's capital Belgrade on Sept. 13, after defeating his Iranian competitor, Amin Mirzazadeh.

Turkish swimmer Merve Tuncel won gold medals in 400, 800 and 1,500 meters freestyle swimming races at the World Junior Swimming Championships. Merve Tuncel has made World swimming history as the first athlete to achieve a hat-trick at the same championship.

Kayaker Srabotnik second in World Cup event in Spain
Seu d’Urgell – Slovenian kayaker Martin Srabotnik placed second in the ICF Canoe-Kayak Slalom World Cup final in La Seu d’Urgell in Spain on Saturday. Czech Jiri Prskavec won the event and the overall World Cup standings.

The fifth Islamic Solidarity Games, hosting some 4,200 international athletes coming to the Central Anatolian province, has started in Konya, while the Turkish team has bagged 40 medals.
Kerley wins world 100m gold in US cleansweep
American Fred Kerley led a U.S. cleansweep as he stormed to victory in the men's 100m at the World Championships in Oregon on July 16.
Kerley, in lane four, trailed Marvin Bracy for 95 meters of the tight race, but managed to outdip his teammate for victory in 9.86 seconds at Eugene's Hayward Field.
