Swiss skier Suter wins last downhill before Olympics
In the absence of Sofia Goggia, world champion Corinne Suter won the last downhill before the Beijing Olympics.
Suter had a dominate performance on Jan. 29 to finish 0.51 seconds faster than Swiss teammate Jasmine Flury for her first World Cup victory since Dec. 18, 2020. Cornelia Huetter of Austria was third, 0.78 behind.
Skier Štuhec, snowboarder Košir chosen as Olympics flag bearers
Ljubljana – Alpine skier Ilka Štuhec and snowboarder Žan Košir will be Slovenia’s flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games on 4 February, the Slovenian Olympic Committee said on Monday.

Slovenian ski jumping team third in Wisla
Wisla – The Slovenian ski jumping team featuring Cene Prevc, Peter Prevc, Timi Zajc and Anže Lanišek finished third in the first World Cup team event in Wisla, Poland on Saturday. The victory went to Austrians, while the German team was second.

"Mete Gazoz ... This is my first book dedicated to you. Prodigy of archery," the Brazilian author said in a video posted to Twitter.
Savšek finishes second overall in Canoe Slalom World Cup
Pau – Slovenia’s Benjamin Savšek finished second overall in the Canoe Slalom World Cup by taking second place in the last event of the season in France’s Pau on Sunday.
Savšek finished 0.16 seconds behind the winner, Denis Gargaud Chanut of France, who was also crowned the winner of the World Cup.
