Three days of humor in Istanbul

The 2nd Istanbul Comics and Art Festival (ICAF) will be held at the Saint Joseph Association Club Quartier and Moda All Saints Church from Sept. 8 to 10. 

Featuring a rich program, the festival will bring together cartoonists, animators, illustrators and graffiti artists for alternative art performances during workshops, talks, exhibitions and autograph sessions. 

Name of heroic Turkish soldier who resisted coup attempt patented

The Turkish Patent Institute has patented the name of Ömer Halisdemir, a non-commissioned Turkish officer who was killed during last year's coup attempt after resisting a raid by Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETÖ)-linked soldiers at the Special Forces Command in Ankara.

Mules not shot, jumped off cliff, says Turkish governor

The governor of ??rnak said a pack of mules allegedly used for smuggling and found dead in the southeastern province were not killed, but rather had jumped off a cliff after being startled by the sound of gunshots, according to a main opposition party deputy who went to the province to investigate the incident.

Vancouver to host first Turkish film fest

The Vancouver Turkish Films Festival (VTTF) will be organized for the first time between Jan. 23 and 25.

The founder and director of VTTF, Hakan Burcuo?lu, said their purpose was to promote Turkish culture, arts and identity in Vancouver, the third largest city in Canada and one of the most important filmmaking centers in North America.
