Conductor Grammenos’ impromptu performance saves the evening
On Friday night, we waited in the packed Christos Lambrakis Hall for conductor Karina Canellakis to take the stage to conduct the London Philharmonic in a much-anticipated concert. The president of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, was also present in the main box.
Rossini's ‘Mehmet II’ opera to premiere at AKM
One of the most important operas about Turks, "Mehmet II (Maometto II)" by Gioachino Rossini, one of the most important composers of romantic-era opera, and librettist Cesare della Valle, will be premiered by the Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) at the Atatürk Cultural Center - Türk Telekom Opera Hall on Feb. 24.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame on İzmir stage
Victor Hugo's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," which has been performed for three seasons, will be staged again by the İzmir State Opera and Ballet in February and March.
The music of the ballet was composed by Cesare Pugni, and the musical arrangement was made by Bujor Hoinic. Göksel Armağan Davran and Ahmet Volkan Ersoy made the choreography and libretto of the ballet.

The Greek National Opera presents the Greek premiere of Nadia Boulanger's opera "La Ville Morte" (The Dead City), being staged for only the third time in over a century. French-born Boulanger was an important conductor, composer and music educator, mentoring some of the greatest figures of the 20th century, among them British composer Lennox Berkeley and American composer Walter Piston.

‘La Bohème’ on Istanbul stage
The Istanbul State Opera and Ballet (IDOB) brings the stage Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's romantic and dramatic Opera, "La Bohème."
The opera will be on stage at the Atatürk Cultural Center - Türk Telekom Opera Hall on Dec. 14 and Jan. 4, 25 and 31, 2024.
