Operation Olive Branch

Turkey on June 12 condemned an attack by the terror group YPG/PKK on a hospital in Afrin, northern Syria which killed at least 13 civilian patients and injured dozens.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry "strongly" condemned the attack and its perpetrators, including one of the YPG/PKK's other aliases, the so-called SDF.

Turkey has secured most of the areas in Syria near the Turkish border, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on June 11.

"We will continue to make every effort to ensure that our neighbor, Syria, has a bright future based on its territorial integrity and political unity," he said while virtually attending a dam opening ceremony in the southern province of Kilis.

A house that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of modern Turkey, used as his military headquarters in Syria's northern province of Afrin during World War I will be renovated and turned into a museum.

"The house has already been cleaned, and a project to restore and turn the house into a museum has been prepared," the Hatay Governor's Office said.

Turkish cabinet members, political party representatives, and presidential officials offered their condolences late on April 7 to the families of soldiers who were killed in the Operation Olive Branch zone in northern Syria by the PKK terrorist organization.

Turkey's parliament speaker on March 13 hit back at baseless, ignorant claims the European Parliament made about Turkey.

"We reject the uninformed, unfounded, and malicious allegations against our country" adopted by the European Parliament's General Assembly on the 10th anniversary of the Syrian conflict, Mustafa Şentop said on Twitter.

Cairo's recent approach in the Eastern Mediterranean benefits both Egypt and Turkey, as well as other countries in the region, the Turkish national defense minister, said on March 12. 

The foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Qatar have expressed their determination in combatting terrorism and separatist moves in Syria in their first trilateral meeting devoted to the security, political and humanitarian problems of the war-torn country.

Three YPG/PKK terrorists in possession of $2 million were arrested in northern Syria, Turkish security sources said on March 6.

The suspects were gathering information for the terror group on security forces deployed in the region, said the sources, requesting anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

Ties between Turkey and the United States will hardly improve if the latter does not halt its cooperation with the YPG in Syria, the Turkish defense minister has said, adding that Washington's claims that the PKK and the YPG are two different organizations have nothing to do with the reality.
