Poll shows migration, virus have Greeks worried

A new opinion poll carried out by the firm Pulse for Skai has found that most Greeks are worried about the new migration crisis at the country's border with Turkey as well as the coronavirus.

Specifically, the poll found that 83 percent of respondents are worried about the developments at the Greek-Turkish land border, with 62 percent saying they are "very worried."

Almost all the public opinion polls in the runup to Sunday's snap election see New Democracy beating SYRIZA by a margin of 8-10 percentage points. No polling company dares stray from this prediction after the debacle of hugely mistaken estimations made by some as regards the government's performance in the European elections.

Dancila says PSD will field presidential candidate who polls show as favorite

The Social Democratic Party's presidential candidate will be decided after the party's congress, Premier Viorica Dancila announced on Tuesday, adding that the party is determined to win this election and therefore, several opinion polls will be conducted before the Social Democrats select their nominee for the presidential race.

The silent vote

For once, the silent vote turned out to be a positive surprise. Following the results of the 2012 and 2015 elections, commentators became very cautious of heeding opinion polls. Similarly, we would take the opinions of our peers with a grain of salt, deeming that we were somewhat out of touch with society.

But as one friend says: "It's better if the result exceeds your expectations."
