Woman In Her 30s Was Found Dead In The Orlandovtsi Neighbourhood Of Sofia

Woman in her 30s was found dead in the Orlandovtsi neighbourhood of Sofia. The police are suspecting murder, as the woman was found with her hands tied. There is no suspect for the crime yet.

According to unconfirmed information, the woman is of Roma origin, BNR reported.

Sofia Municipality Provides BGN 100 Million for Repairs of the Water Supply Network

By the end of this year, the Sofia City Council will choose neighborhoods and settlements around Sofia to replace or build plumbing and sewerage, with a total project amount of 500 million leva. To this end, the municipality will apply for BGN 400 mln under the Operational Program "Environment" 2014-2020 and the remaining BGN 100 mln will allocate from its budget, Dnevnik reported.

Bulgaria Interior Ministry to Launch Roma Employment Program

Bulgarian Interior Minister Rumyana Bachvarova has said her ministry is starting a program to hire more employees of ethnic Roma origin.

This comes after weeks of tensions between Bulgarian and Roma residents of the village of Garmen, in the country's southwest, and more recently in the Orlandovtsi neighborhood of the capital Sofia.

EU Commission Allocates EUR 55 M to Roma Integration in Bulgaria

More than BGN 110 M, or EUR 55 M, of funding earmarked for Bulgaria under the 2014-2020 operational programs are to be set aside for Roma integration, a EU official has said.

"The money is available now, could be used outright and the work [done with it] has to be complex," according to EU Commission Vice President for Budget and Human Resources Kristalina Georgieva.
