Major cocaine trafficking ring busted

A crime ring that imported large quantities of cocaine into Greece from Colombia has been unraveled, police said on Monday.

Four members of the gang - a 47-year-old Greek and three Albanians aged, 29, 30 and 49 - were arrested in Athens and the central Greek town of Larissa. Another 40-year-old accomplice, also from Albania, is being sought.

Cocaine worth 24.5 million Turkish Liras seized from Liberia-flagged ship off Mersin

Anti-drug police seized cocaine worth 24.5 million Turkish Liras from a foreign-flagged ship as it was approaching the harbor in the southern province of Mersin on Aug. 7.

Police raided a Liberia-flagged cargo ship after a tipoff that it was carrying drugs, according to a statement from the Mersin Chief Prosecutor's Office. 

Eleven Greeks tied to huge haul of cocaine in France

French authorities on Wednesday provided the Attica Police's narcotics division, the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Financial Crimes Squad with the names of 11 Greek nationals arrested on Tuesday in southern France in connection with a massive haul of cocaine.

According to sources, the suspects are all young men, none of whom has been previously convicted in Greece.

Greek police bust large drug network

Greek police have dismantled an 11-member drug trafficking ring in the prefect of Ilia in the Peloponnese. The gang had set up a delivery network transporting large amounts of narcotics, including cocaine and marijuana over the past six months in Amaliada and Athens. The suspects included 10 Albanian nationals aged between 22 and 40 and a 30-year-old Greek.
