Steve Bannon, US President Donald Trump's former chief strategist who now says he wants to help right-wing populists come to power in Europe, hosted the nationalist prime minister of Bosnia's mainly Serb entity at his Washington home on Sunday, the Republika Srpska government said in a statement.

Media in Bosnia reported on Wednesday that the government of Bosnia's mainly Serbian entity, Republika Srpska, has approved the participation of the entity's Civil Protection staff in an disaster-emergency exercise in Serbia - but they will not be allowed to display Bosnian flags or state symbols.

Russia's ambassador to Bosnia, Petar Ivanov, and Milorad Dodik, the Bosnian Serb President, have criticised the UK for "meddling" in the October general election campaign" after Britain's Defence Secretary, Gavin Williamson, recently announced that the UK will send 40 extra military personnel to counter any "malign external influence" and to ensure "free and fair" general elections in Bosnia.

An updated central national register of wartime missing persons in Bosnia is to be published soon, but the country’s Serb-dominated entity Republika Srpska wants it to include each person’s ethnicity.

The government of Bosnia’s Serb-dominated Republika Srpska entity has finalised a proposed law to grant rights to wartime torture victims - but campaigners fear it could discriminate against non-Serbs.

Milorad Dodik, president of Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, Republika Srpska, and the head of its ruling Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, is attending a three-day Economic Forum in St Petersburg where he will meet President Vladimir Putin on Friday, Dodik's office said. 

Bosnia's Minister of Communications and Transport, Ismir Jusko, is to visit Turkey soon to work out the terms of Ankara's three-billion-euro funding offer for the new highway - but officials in Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity Republika Srpska have already said that they do not support the deal.

Over the last two years, Russian investors have recorded losses of 52 millions of euros, mostly connected with the oil industry in Republika Srpska, Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, data from Bosnia's Foreign Investment Promotion Agency show.

Starting from September, when the new school year begins, pupils in high schools in Republika Srpska will have mandatory religion classes.

Over the next few months, officials from Republika Srpska and the Serbian Orthodox Church will work on a detailed plan for the classes.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is on a working  visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina where he will open the International Economic Fair.

With his presence, Prime Minister Borissov will highlight the importance of the economic development of the Western Balkan countries for their European perspective, the Government Information Service said.
