Pahor writes to Michel over candidate status of Bosnia-Herzegovina
Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor has sent a letter to European Council President Charles Michel calling for Bosnia-Herzegovina to be granted the EU candidate country status without any conditions. Pahor believes this would strengthen the pro-European forces in the country and the pace of adjustment to the European norms.
Pahor notes importance of Trubar and Slovenian language in Italy
Gorizia – President Borut Pahor addressed a ceremony ahead of Primož Trubar Day in Italy’s Savogna on Tuesday, noting the importance of the Slovenian language for the Slovenian nation, saying that the “Slovenian language was and will be the foundation of our identity.”
Writer Boris Pahor laid to rest in Trieste
Trieste – Several hundred people gathered at St Ana’s Cemetery in Trieste on Tuesday to lay to rest Boris Pahor, one of the greatest Slovenian writers. Pahor was paid respects by several Slovenian politicians and other public figures, who highlighted the high moral and ethical standards of the writer and witness to all three totalitarianisms.

Appeals for reconciliation at ceremony for victims of post-war executions
Kočevski Rog – Victims of post-WWII summary executions were honoured on Saturday with a ceremony in Kočevski Rog, an area in south Slovenia where multiple mass graves have been discovered. Novo Mesto Bishop Andrej Saje and President Borut Pahor called for efforts towards reconciliation.
Late author Pahor remembered at commemoration in native Trieste
Trieste – A commemoration was held on Wednesday evening at the National Hall in Trieste, Italy, to pay respects to late Slovenian author Boris Pahor, who died aged 108 in his native Trieste on Monday. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday at St Ana Cemetery in Trieste.
Former leader of Slovenian Protestants dies
Ljubljana – Former head of the Slovenian Evangelical Lutheran Church Geza Erniša has died aged 70 after being hospitalised due to illness, online portal Vestnik reports on Wednesday. He was the first bishop of the church in Slovenia, having held the post for 18 years until 2013.

Calls for responsible innovation, digital development at Africa conference
Ljubljana – Addressing a virtual international conference promoting Africa-Europe ties, especially in innovation and digital development, President Borut Pahor said on Thursday digitalisation should be based on human rights, the rule of law and democratic society. Foreign Minister Anže Logar called for the development of cybersecurity.

Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor and Prime Minister Janez Janša congratulated on Monday Emmanuel Macron on being elected the president of France for a second term in Sunday’s run-off of the presidential election.
Pahor says 46 votes not necessary to be given mandate to form govt
Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor urged cooperation after the general election in an interview with RTV Slovenija aired just before polls closed on Sunday. He said he preferred the next PM candidate produce an outright majority, but he will not insist on this. If 46 votes cannot be secured, he will give the mandate to the relative winner.
President Pahor receives refugees from Ukraine
Ljubljana – President Borut Pahor received in Presidential Palace on Friday people from Ukraine who took refuge from the war in their country in Slovenia. Ukrainian Ambassador Mykhailo Brodovych attended the reception as well, the president’s office said.
