At least 45 people were killed in an explosion at a political rally in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly the North-West Frontier Province) on Sunday, Reuters reported.

The explosion was caused by a suicide bomber, a police chief said.

An explosion at a mosque in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar on Monday killed at least 28 and injured more than 100 others, many of the victims were police officers who had gathered for daily payers, Reuters reported.

The mosque was located near a police housing building and had about 260 people inside it when the blast occurred, local police said.

An unidentified man opened fire on a bus traveling from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Five of the passengers were injured and one was killed, NBC News reported, citing authorities.

There were about 40 people in the bus.

The driver of the vehicle, which drove about 40 people, pulled off the road and stopped near Bakersfield just after the shooting began.
