Pakistan floods

The Turkish government is dispatching two ministers to Pakistan for an on-site inspection to further coordinate Türkiye's humanitarian assistance to the flood-hit country that claimed the lives of hundreds of people.

A huge relief operation was under way Monday and international aid began trickling in as Pakistan struggled to deal with monsoon flooding that has affected more than 33 million people.

Pakistan's flooded southern Sindh province braced Sunday for a fresh deluge from swollen rivers in the north as the death toll from this year's monsoon topped 1,000.

The mighty Indus River that courses through Pakistan's second-most populous region is fed by dozens of mountain tributaries to the north, but many have burst their banks following record rains and glacier melt.

Turkey's state aid agency has set up four water filtration facilities in Pakistan's southern Sindh province to provide clean water to around one million people.

A Turkish aid agency on June 13 donated 200 wheelchairs in Pakistan.

Turkish aid organizations lined up to lend a helping hand to refugees after heavy rainfall caused severe flooding and destroyed tents at 11 camps in rural areas of northern Syria.

The Turkish army has dispatched two aircraft to transport aid sent to disaster-hit Indonesia, the army said on Oct. 6.
