Artists react to vandalism of controversial statue on southern Athens coast
The Chamber of Greek Artists on Thursday issued a statement reacting to the destruction of a statue at a public square on Athens's southern coast that religious zealots said symbolized Satan.

Holding banners and chanting hymns, some 100 parishioners marched from their church of Panaghia Myrtidiotissa in Palaio Faliro in southern Athens to a public sculpture where a priest sprinkled holy water on the art work to "exorcize its demons."

Police arrest two men suspected of at least 16 burglaries
Police on Thursday announced the arrest of two men suspected of having carried out at least 16 burglaries, including at the residence of the Moroccan ambassador in the northern Athens suburb of Palaio Psychico last week.
Benaki Museum unveils a castle full of toys
The Benaki Toy Museum, housed in a fairy-tale edifice at Palaio Faliro on Athens's southern coast, is poised to open its doors to the public for the first time Sunday.
It is the latest addition to the Benaki group of museums and is based on a vast collection of vintage toys donated by Maria Argyriadi.

Another beach made available after cleanup

One robber in hospital after intended victims hit back
Two would-be robbers wielding assault rifles were thwarted by the owner of a convenience store in Palaio Faliro and his employee when they tried to hold up the business in the early hours of on Tuesday morning.
When the owner refused to hand over his takings, one of the assailants fired his gun into the air as a warning.
Burglars break into Moroccan ambassador's home, flee in his car
Police in Athens were on Monday seeking the intruders who broke into the home of the Moroccan ambassador to Greece in Palaio Psychico in the early hours of the morning.
The perpetrators, who have not been identified, stole cash and valuables from the house before fleeing in the ambassador's diplomatic car which had been parked outside.
