Israel frees Palestinian after 56-day hunger strike
Israel on July 12 released a Palestinian prisoner who staged a 56-day hunger strike which brought him near death in a protest against the controversial procedure allowing detainees to be held indefinitely without charge.

Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan ended a 56-day hunger strike on June 28 after Israel agreed to release him, his lawyer and the Palestinian Prisoners Club announced.

500 Migrants Feared Drowned after Boat Sinks off Malta
About 500 migrants are feared dead after their boat was rammed by another vessel near Malta last week.
Two Palestinian survivors told the International Organization for Migration (IOM) that the boat had been intentionally sunk by traffickers after leaving Damietta in Egypt in early September, the BBC reports.

Israelâs operation against Gaza is nothing but brutal and indiscriminate collective punishment against the Palestinians and is deplorable. The pictures we see in the press of celebrating Israelis as bombs fall on the people of Gaza are reminiscent of another era when the Jews were on the receiving end, but this appears lost on Israelis today.
