Ismael al-Ethawi, a close associate of ISIL leader Abu Bakr-Baghdadi who killed himself in a U.S. raid last month, was arrested by Turkish authorities and handed over to the Iraqis, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Nov. 18

A man who was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport after being deported from Turkey, over links to the ISIL terrorist group, has been charged with terrorism offences, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Nov. 17.

Four close relatives of dead ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi have been arrested in the central Anatolian province of Kırşehir on Nov. 16.

A suspected ISIL terrorist in legal and literal limbo on Nov. 13 helps capture some of the chaos sown when Western countries refuse to take back their citizens who fought for terror groups in Syria. 

Germany and the Netherlands have pledged to accept ISIL members and their families captured by Turkey, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said on Nov. 13 as Ankara started to repatriate the fighters this week.

France will take back 11 suspected French ISIL members from Turkey, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner said on Nov. 12, a day after Ankara said it was deporting foreign citizens linked to the group.

The first Islamic State foreign terrorist has already been repatriated from Turkey, according to a spokesman for the country's interior ministry, quoted by private NTV television. On November 14, the same procedure will be applied to seven other terrorists of German descent, the spokesman added. The already repatriated jihadist is from the United States. 

Turkey said on Monday it had deported two captives from Islamic State - a German and an American - beginning a program to repatriate detainees that has caused friction with its NATO allies since it launched an offensive in northern Syria.

Less than 1,000 U.S. service members will remain in northern Syria to ensure the lasting defeat of the ISIL terror group, U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark Milley said in remarks aired on Nov. 10.

Turkey will start extraditing captured ISIL terrorists on Nov. 11 to their home countries, according to Turkey's interior minister.
