Battling wildfires for over a week, Turkey said on Aug. 5 that it aims to bring all of them under control on Friday.

"We managed to prevent the blazes from advancing further despite strong winds today," said Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. "We aim to bring them totally under control tomorrow."

While calling on the leaders of the European Union (EU) to make the upcoming summit a turning point for ties between Ankara and Brussels, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on June 20 urged the Union to take decisions for concrete steps for this bid, including a mandate that will authorize the EU Commission to negotiate Customs Union with Turkey.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with numerous top diplomats and heads of international organizations on June 19 on the occasion of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) in southern Turkey.

Çavuşoğlu started the day with a trilateral meeting with the participation of foreign ministers of Malta and Libya, Evaris Bartolo and Najla Mangoush, respectively in Antalya.

Turkey is expected to see a high turnout in the upcoming Southeast European foreign ministers' summit and Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the country's foreign minister said on June 16. 

Addressing a news conference in Turkey's Mediterranean province of Antalya, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu that this is "an indicator of trust towards our country."

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will address the U.N. General Assembly on May 20 where Israel's ongoing attacks on the Palestinians, which have already killed hundreds of people, will be discussed.

Ankara has been contributing toward the security of Afghanistan by providing hardware and training support, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said, noting that Turkey would keep its presence in the war-torn country as long as Kabul asks for it.

Ankara is ready to contribute to carrying Turkmenistan's gas via Turkey to Europe, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on Feb. 23.
