Slovenia and Serbia set to improve rail links
Slovenia and Serbia will give an initiative to create a joint task force with Croatia, Austria and Italy to explore ways to speed up railway traffic between the countries. This was agreed as Infrastructure Ministers Alenka Bratušek hosted her Serbian counterpart Goran Vesić in Ljubljana on 3 April.

Five centre-left parties expect to win election
Ljubljana – The new Freedom Movement party and the four opposition parties associated in the informal KUL coalition are convinced they will win the general election on Sunday and form a stable government. Their leaders said that the five parties operated as a well-coordinated team as they addressed the press on Friday before the election blackout sets in.

SAB will be strong member of centre-left govt, leader says
Ljubljana – SAB leader Alenka Bratušek stressed on Wednesday that the party’s candidates are a responsible team who know what Slovenia needs and thus act accordingly, as she addressed the party’s last major event before the general election.
MPs reject occupational disease proposal
Ljubljana – The National Assembly rejected on Friday opposition-sponsored changes to the pension and disability insurance act that would create a legal basis for determining and confirming occupational diseases. The coalition argued the matter should be addressed with changes to health legislation.

SAB party adopts new programme
Ljubljana – The opposition Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) adopted a new programme on Saturday. The 15-point platform revolves around the welfare state supported by a strong economy, democracy and respect for the rule of law.
“Everything we do, we do for the people and their future,” Party leader Alenka Bratušek said in her address to the delegates.

Four opposition parties sign agreement on post-election cooperation
Ljubljana – The heads of four centre-left opposition parties signed an agreement on post-election cooperation in Ljubljana on Tuesday. The deal will be a basis for further active cooperation, and for common programmes, which is to pave the way for the forming of an efficient and development-oriented government.
