In Hostile Serbian Parliament, MP Fights for Rights of ‘Enemy’ Albanians

As a political representative of ethnic Albanians in Serbia, Shaip Kamberi never had it easy.

It got a whole lot harder, however, when an election last year yielded a parliament dominated by the party of President Aleksandar Vucic and its allies, leaving Kamberi and his five Albanian and Bosniaks colleagues as the only opposition MPs in the 250-seat assembly.

Stankovic congratulates Albanian community

BELGRADE - Zoran Stankovic, chairman of the Coordination Body for the Municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac and Medvedja, congratulated on Tuesday the Albanian national minority and the Party for Democratic Action led by Riza Halimi on their electoral success, underlining that voting in elections is the right way to improve the life of people in southern Serbia.

RIK: SNS wins 158 seats, SPS-44, DS-19, NDS-18

BELGRADE - The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS)-led coalition swept 158 seats in the Serbian parliament, the SPS-led coalition secured 44 seats, the Democratic Party (DS) - 19, and the New Democratic Party -18 seats, according to the data by the national electoral commission (RIK) based on 99.08 percent of the polling stations or 99.44 percent of the electorate.

PDA decides to go to elections

BUJANOVAC - The Party for Democratic Action (PDA), which gathers ethnic Albanians from southern Serbia, has decided to take part in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for March 16.

Chair of the PDA Bujanovac municipal committee Saip Kamberi confirmed for Tanjug that PDA wishes to test its strength in the elections and hopes to win at least one MP seat.
