European Socialists Freeze Relations with Romania Ruling Party

Weeks ahead of the European elections, the European Socialists have "frozen" their relations with the ruling party in Romania, and in June will decide on its continued membership of the left-wing bloc in the European Parliament.

Romania's Social Democratic Party (PSD) says the announcement from the leader of the Party of European Socialists (PES) regarding PES freezing relations with PSD does not reflect "the overall position of the PES," adding that it is "looking forward" to finding out what issues worries PES.

EU Socialists' Leader Stanishev Meeting Jeremy Corbyn Saturday

Sergey Stanishev, head the Party of European Socialists (PES), is to meet with the UK Labour party's leader Jeremy Corbyn over the weekend.

Stanishev is going to London as part of a PES delegation for Labour's Annual Conference taking place between September 27 and 30, Bulgarian newspapers report, citing the PES press office.

MEP Sergey Stanishev, who heads the Party of European Socialists (PES), is now officially running for a second term, a recent post on Facebook has suggested.

Stanishev has used his profile to remind that he will take part in the election that is to be held in Budapest on June 12-13, at a congress of his party.
