A Weak Earthquake Was Registered in Pazardzhik

An earthquake with 2.3 magnitude on the Richter scale has been registered on the territory of Bulgaria, in the Pazardzhik region.

The earthquake was felt at 9.32 am this morning with an epicentre 5 km south of Pazardzhik, in the village of Glavinitsa and 101 km southeast of Sofia, with a depth of 2 km. No material damage is reported.

Prime Minister Borissov Inspected the Pazardzhik Station's Reception Building

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov made an inspection of the Pazardzhik station's reception building. It is financed under the Operational Program "Transport" amounting to BGN 3.63 million, of which BGN 3.085 million are from the EU. Pazardzhik Station was completed in 9 months from January to September 2014. Before the start of the project, 231,000 passengers a year passed through the station.

Large Amounts of Rainfall in Southwest Bulgaria, Snow in the Rila-Rhodopes

Significant cloud today with rainfall in many places, at altitudes above 1,000 m - snow. Larger amounts of rain are expected in Southwest Bulgaria, while in the Rila-Rhodope region additional snow will accumulate. In Eastern Bulgaria and in parts of the northern slopes of the Balkan Mountain Range there will be moderate to strong wind from south.

Snowfall in most of North Bulgaria and in the Mountains, Rain in South Bulgaria and Coastal Areas

New precipitation beginning from southwest this morning will spread into the eastern regions by the evening. Snowfall is forecast in most of North Bulgaria and in the mountainous regions, rain in South Bulgaria and on the seacoast. The atmospheric pressure, much lower than the average for January, will further decrease. Light to moderate wind from east-northeast.

Rain in Many Parts of Bulgaria, Wet Snow in Northwest Regions

Today the rainfall will continue in many areas of the country, wet snow in the northwestern regions, meteorologist Hristo Hristov, National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, told Focus News Agency. Considerable amounts of rain are expected in the southwestern half of the country.
