Three people killed in two road accidents in less than 12 hours
Three people, including a 15-year-old girl, died in less than 12 hours in two traffic accidents in different parts of the country.
The first deadly incident took place late on Monday night on the Methoni-Pylos road in the southwestern Peloponnese and involved a car, which was being driven by a 31-year-old man, crashing into the metal protection railing and a tree.
81 people rescued from stranded ship along illegal migration route to Italy
Authorities in the southern Peloponnesian city of Kalamata have rescued 81 people stranded on a ship south of the mainland, on a route frequently used to take migrants illegally to Italy, local officials have said.
Municipal officials said the city had provided a temporary shelter for the people rescued, who identified themselves as coming from Egypt, Pakistan and Syria.
Shots fired between two Roma men outside of Nafplio hospital
Shots were fired outside a hospital in the city of Nafplio, Peloponnese on Monday evening.
According to information from state broadcaster ERT, the shots were fired between two men, of separate Roma ethnicity families, who were at odds with each other.
Two people were slightly injured, while residents in the area locked themselves in their homes.
Police arrest 282 persons in one day
More than 250 individuals were arrested across Greece on Wednesday by the police.
According to the police, officers took into account local operational plans and focused on areas with increased crime in an effort to improve public safety.
From the 21,609 people that were checked, 733 individuals were brought into police stations and 282 people were arrested.

Downpours soak large parts of the Peloponnese
Rain pounded many parts of Greece on Friday, with Arkadia, Ilia and Achaia in the Peloponnese recording the highest volume of water, according to meteo.gr.
"Strong winds were also recorded in areas of the Peloponnese, such as Pylos and Kalamata," Dr Kostas Lagouvardos, director of research at the National Observatory of Athens, told Kathimerini.
