No atmospheric burden noted after fire at Attica power station

There has been no serious atmospheric burden as a result of the fire that broke out at a high-voltage power station in a suburb of Attica on Sunday night that led to power outages in Athens and Piraeus as well as areas of the Peloponnese peninsula, according to a team of Environment Ministry inspectors that visited the site on Monday.

Peloponnese eyes waste management

Work begins on Saturday on the new waste management system in the Peloponnese, the biggest of its kind in Greece.

Friday will see the signing of the concession agreement, granting Terna Energy the rights to start operating the system managing the waste of Corinthia, Arcadia, Argolida, Messinia and Lakonia in 10 months' time.

Reopening of Corinth Canal after landslide delayed

Sailors traveling between the gulfs of Corinth and the Saronic will not be able to cut across the Corinth Canal for a couple more days, the company that manages the strait said on Monday.

Corinth Canal SA said that a landslide which shut down the passage will take longer to repair than the original deadline of Tuesday, January 19.

Athens to ratify Rafales, sea zones deal before Jan 20
