Creditors demand for 60% of the pension to be paid until the age of 65

The representatives of Greece’s creditors are back in Athens for another round of negotiations with the Greek government.

Shortly after the beginning of the discussions, a source said the representatives demanded immediate and essential changes in the pension system which should be decided by the end of November.

Greek pensioners left stranded without benefits payments

Hundreds of thousands of Greek pensioners awaiting their monthly retirement benefits are left stranded without funds that they are eligible for. There are currently 330,000 pending pension requests for main and auxiliary pensions and 61,000 lump sum payments outstanding. Social Security funds, however, are unable to proceed with their files.

Greek Labor Minister: €390/month pension rates and an end to auxiliary pensions

Greek Labor Minister George Katrougalos agreed on the creation of a basic pension worth 390 euros. His plans for the new pension rates are aimed at protecting low pension earners due to the restructuring (ie. cutbacks) of Greek pensions. The recommendations are to be put forth at the ministerial council on Tuesday.

Parliament committee slaughters the Greek pension with report

If you know three pensioners who get benefits worth over 1,000 euros per month, then expect one of them will lose these due to the restructuring of pension system due to the necessity of further belt-tightening. The so-called Committee of Wise Men on Thursday delivered a 30-page report outlining reforms needed in the pension system.

Bulgaria Raises Retirement Age as Part of Pension Reform

The normal retirement age in Bulgaria will gradually rise to reach 65 years for both men and women in 2037, parliament has decided.

The period of work needed to make a worker eligible for receiving full pension benefits will gradually rise by two months a year to reach 40 years for men and 37 for women in 2027.

Bulgaria's Minimum Pension to Become BGN 157 Starting July

The minimal pension for people who have completed the requiorements for age and years of labor will be BGN 157.44 starting July 1. Meanwhile, the minimum pension for people with less years of employment will be slightly lower - BGN 133.82.

The information has been revealed in accordance with the calculations of the National Statistical Institute (NSI).
