ATMs, banks, town hall, post office targeted by vandals in Attica

A series of attacks were carried out by unknown assailants from 8.30 p.m. on Thursday until 3 a.m. on Friday on cash machines, banks, a Hellenic Post branch, a local town hall and a vehicle, in various areas of Attica.

According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), the perpetrators initially vandalized ATMs in Petralona.

About 30 new coronavirus cases were reported at a private clinic in Peristeri in western Athens on Thursday.

Tests were conducted after a patient came down with symptoms similar to coronavirus.

Health Ministry spokesman Sotiris Tsiodras and Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias visited the clinic Thursday.

Dozens of bakers join forces for giant New Year's cake

The western Athens suburb of Peristeri is hoping to break a record this year, presenting a 5-ton "vassilopita" at its annual New Year's event on Tuesday afternoon on the main square outside City Hall.

The traditional cake will stretch across an area of more than 300 square meters and will contain over 200 tokens corresponding to small gifts in its 35,000 pieces.
