Short Story of a Bulgarian Writer Entered a US Textbook on Literature

The short story "Blood" by Bulgarian writer Zdravka Evtimova, translated into English, was included in a 8th-grade literature textbook in the United States. It also includes works by artists such as Ray Bradbury, Isaac Asimov, Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft, reports Dnevnik. 

Record High Number of Participants Expected in the Mummers Festival in Pernik

Some 7,500 participants from 9 countries are expected to take part in this year's edition of the international mummers festival "Surva" in Bulgaria's town of Pernik. They will present customs and traditions of ancient origin. The festival will run from 25th to 27th of January, reports BNT. 

A Flu Epidemic in Pernik is Announced

A flu epidemic was announced on the territory of Pernik Municipality. Students are on flu vacation during the period from January 17 to January 22 inclusive. Measures have been taken in connection with the high flu spread among the students, the municipality said.

At this stage, kindergartens and nurseries will be open. 

Lyulin Motorway will be Part of Struma, Kalotina-Sofia Renamed to Europe Motorway

The Lyulin motorway will be part of the Struma motorway, while the Kalotina-Sofia road is renamed to Europe Motorway that will include the new beltway north of Sofia city. This is stipulated in a decision by which government reaffirmed the list of national roads and approved the list of national roads with tolls, the government press office said, reports Focus News Agency.

Sofia-Pernik Road is Closed Today Due to Repair

From 9 am. to 22 pm. today will stop traffic on the road Sofia - Pernik section between the station ''Vladaia'' to the junction of ''Gorno Dragichevo'' due to a repair of the asphalt reported bTV.

As an alternative bypass route between Sofia and Pernik, the third-class road ''Suhodol'' - ''Malo Buchino'' - ''Golyamo Buchino'' - Pernik can be used.
