Persecution of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia

BELGRADE - In occupied Europe during WWII, only the Ustasha Independent State of Croatia had specialised death camps for Serb, Jewish and Romani children, notes a resolution on Ustasha killings of Serb, Jewish and Romani children in death camps for children in the Independent State of Croatia between 1941 and 1945.

Seventy-eight years ago, on April 22, 1945, brothers Mate and Stjepan Zukolo were among around 600 prisoners who took part in a major breakout from the main part of the Jasenovac concentration camp and death camp complex.

As the prisoners stormed the gate, attacking the guards with bricks and planks, the Zukolo brothers were immediately separated in the commotion.

Dodik said that the position of the Serb entity in BiH, the Serb Republic (RS) would be discussed during the meeting.

Jasenovac was a death camp in Croatia for Serbs, Jews, and Roma, set up and operated by the Ustasha regime of the Nazi-allied Independent State of Croatia (NDH) during the Second World War.

Historian Ivo Goldstein launched a new study of Croatia’s Jasenovac concentration camp, challenging attempts to downplay the crimes committed there by the fascist Ustasa during World War II.

Slovenian right-winger Roman Leljak will promote his book and film denying academic research-based data on the Jasenovac World War II concentration camp at Catholic church venues across Croatia.
