Seventy-eight years ago, on April 22, 1945, brothers Mate and Stjepan Zukolo were among around 600 prisoners who took part in a major breakout from the main part of the Jasenovac concentration camp and death camp complex.

As the prisoners stormed the gate, attacking the guards with bricks and planks, the Zukolo brothers were immediately separated in the commotion.

Brnabic: Anti-Serb pogrom in Kosovo-Metohija began 19 years ago

BELGRADE - The March 2004 pogrom against Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija began on this day 19 years ago, Serbian PM Ana Brnabic wrote in a post on her Instagram profile on Friday.

Brnabic noted that "over 4,000 Serbs were driven out of their homes and eight were killed, and 35 churches and monasteries, including many under UNESCO protection, were destroyed."

Today marks 19th anniversary of anti-Serb pogrom in Kosovo-Metohija

BELGRADE - Kosovo-Metohija Serbs were targeted by a pogrom 19 years ago, on March 17-19, 2004.

It was the second large pogrom Serbs in the province suffered at the hands of ethnic Albanians after the end of the 1999 NATO aggression on Serbia, then part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.

Tension in Kosovo after an Albanian Shot two Serbian Boys

The Albanian, who wounded two Serbs with an automatic weapon in the Kosovo village of Gotovusa, has been arrested, "Kurir" reported. The suspect has the initials A.K and is 33 years old.

Yesterday, an 11-year-old boy and a 21-year-old youth were injured in the village of Gotovusa near the town of Shterpce by a passing car. Both were taken to hospital with moderate injuries.
