Perseid meteor shower peaks this weekend
The annual Perseid meteor shower reaches its peak this weekend, sending bright trails of light streaking across the night sky.
With only a sliver of moon in the sky, conditions this year will be ideal for seeing lots of meteors.

‘Mysterious lights in Istanbul caused by meteor shower’
According to experts, the light burst and loud noise heard from many locations in Istanbul on Aug. 8 that terrified locals was generated by the annual Perseid meteor shower.
The burst of light and loud sound seen from many points in Istanbul at around 2 a.m. on Aug. 8 caused panic, since the scenery was likened to the light explosion seen during the deadly Feb. 6 earthquakes.
Peak Perseid meteor shower to light up the sky tonight
Ljubljana – The Perseid meteor shower will reach its peak tonight with meteors being most visible in areas without artificial lighting between 9pm and midnight or until the Moon overshadows them, the Cosmolab organisation has told the STA.

Meteor shower thrills sky watchers across Anatolia
Stargazers were able to catch a glimpse of one of the biggest and best celestial light shows of the year as the Perseid meteor shower peaked over Turkey on Aug. 12.
Hundreds of shooting stars rained over the sky during one of the brightest astronomical displays.

Perseid meteor shower to peak this week
The most popular shower of shooting stars, the Perseids, will reach its peak on Monday to Tuesday dawn, and will be visible on the Greek sky and the north hemisphere.
Those who will stay awake after midnight will have the opportunity, if the weather conditions allow it, to observe the bright shooting starts dart across the sky.

The Month of the Perseids Begins
From July 17th every year begins the activity of the most intense meteor shower in the summer months. Perseids are expected to offer 1-2 falling stars per minute during their peak between August 10 and August 15.

100 shooting stars per minute… Perseid meteor shower this week!
The Perseid meteor shower is an annual event. Over 100 shooting stars per minute will be visible on August 12 creating a spectacular display and will peak at around August 12.
For optimum viewing, artificial light should be kept at a minimum. Binoculars aren’t necessary, nor are telescopes.
