Bulgaria: From July 1, the Minimum Pension becomes BGN 467 (EUR 240)

Parliament finally approved the minimum pension to reach BGN 467 (EUR 240) as of July 1st. From this date, the maximum pension rises to BGN 2,000 (EUR 1,026).

From October 1, the ceiling will rise once again - this time to BGN 3,400, which is the amount of the maximum insurance income.

Kosovo’s Trepca Giant Struggles to Pay off Debts to Miners

Kosovo's mining giant Trepca owes hundreds of thousands of euros to its miners in terms of union fees, pension funds and health insurance, BIRN has found out.

Trepca enterprise deducts 1 per cent of each miner's salary as a union membership fee, but has never transferred this money to the unions, creating a large debt. 

4 changes in real estate and income taxation are about to be made

Three bills and a ministerial decision prepared by the economic staff are changing the taxation on real estate. More specifically, the bill will be discussed at the Parliament, in the coming days, with the changes in the property tax ENFIA, while the issuance of the ministerial decision with the list of professions that will have an extra tax deduction will be also discussed.

ZZZS director worried about long-term coverage of expenses

Ljubljana – Tatjana Mlakar, the director general of the ZZZS public health insurer, has noted in an interview with the STA that the new obligations imposed on the ZZZS do not have long-term financial coverage, and is worried that this will result in a reduction of rights of insured persons.

Pensions going up by 4.4%

Ljubljana – Pensioners will get 4.4% higher pensions at the end of the month in line with regular annual adjustment with wages and consumer prices. Back rise for January will be paid out as well. The adjustment will cost the Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (ZPIZ) EUR 268 million at the annual level, said ZPIZ official Andraž Rangus after the council endorsed the rise on Wednesday.
