Environmental disasters across world in February

The second month of 2020 saw numerous environmental disasters that impaired climate change and vice versa, including Storm Ciara across Europe, swarms of locusts in East Africa, deadly avalanches in Turkey, and a volcanic eruption in Japan.

Here is a look at the global environmental disasters during the previous month.

Feb. 3:

Merapi Volcano Erupted (VIDEO)

Indonesia's volcano Merapi, one of the world's most active volcanoes, erupted today. Clouds of grey ash reached 2 km height.

Authorities did not raise the rumbling volcano's alert status after the early-morning eruption, but they advised commercial planes to take caution in the area, Darik News reported.

Raiden Resources Defines Second Gold Prospect at Kalabak in Bulgaria, Drill Targeting to Follow

Raiden Resources Ltd (ASX: RDN) has defined a second significant gold prospect at its Kalabak project in Bulgaria through a review of historical data and a reconnaissance field visit.

The company will be fast-tracking a fieldwork and target generation program on the prospect for which it has entered into an option agreement to acquire up to 75%.

Etna Volcano WAKES UP!

Two fractures opened at the base of the South-East crater and on the north-eastern flank of the New South-East crater at about 3am local time (2am BST). The lava flows were accompanied by a Strombolian activity from the main craters. However nearby Catania airport remains open, reported express.co.uk.
