Serbia Ponders Health Benefits of Marijuana

Zlatibor Loncar, Serbia's Minister of health, has admitted that use of cannabis can produce good results in medicine and has said that the government may legalise its use for medical treatment.

"The Ministry of Health will not object to the introduction into medicine of anything that gives results in treatment, including marijuana," he said.

Komotini policeman held on drug-dealing charges

A 25-year-old police officer has been arrested in northeastern Greece on suspicion of drug dealing.

He was arrested with five other men on Wednesday, when police raided a house in Komotini.

The raid was conducted after police had arrested an Albanian man at the city’s train station a day earlier.

He had several small packets of cannabis and cocaine in his possession.

Passenger turns over drugs when K-9 inspection announced on ferry

A 23-year-old woman faced drug trafficking charges on Saturday after a routine drug check on board a passenger ferry returning from the islands to the Port of Piraeus, found her to be in possession 106 grams of cocaine.

The young woman turned the drugs over to port police following an announcement that a canine unit was about to inspect the Blue Star 2 ferry for drugs.

Drug smuggler stopped at Athens Airport with 12 kilos of heroin

A 22-year-old man has been arrested at Athens International Airport while trying to smuggle 12 kilos of heroin into the country, police said on Friday.

The Pakistani man arrived in Athens on Thursday night after flying from his homeland via Istanbul.

Authorities said they found the drugs in packages hidden inside his luggage.

Police Destroys Almost 10 T Of Cannabis Near Petrich

Police has destroyed almost 10 tonnes of cannabis near southern Bulgarian town of Petrich, said the Blagoevgrad directorate of the Interior Ministry.

Acting on tips from informants, police found 532 marijuana plants near the village of Krandzhilnitsa, which weighed more than 7 tonnes. The owner of the land plot is yet unidentified.
