Prof. Serbezova: To Say There's no Problem with Medicines in Bulgaria is Cynical

There is a problem with medicines like Clexan and Fraxiparin for example.

There are objective reasons for their absence, but this must be discussed. Neglecting the problem will not solve it.

This was stated in an interview by Prof. Asena Serbezova - Chairwoman of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union.

Turkish pharma Abdi Ibrahim to invest $150 mln in 2021

Leading Turkish pharmaceutical firm Abdi Ibrahim is working to realize its $150 million investment plan in the imminent year, a senior company official said on Dec. 18. 

Süha Taşpolatoğlu, the CEO of Abdi Ibrahim, told Anadolu Agency that the firm will continue its domestic investments in 2021 and the new investments for production facilities will be on its agenda.

Pharmacists on civil war path

A civil war is in the making between pharmacists over a joint ministerial decision which provides for the operation of drugstores over the next two Sundays.

On the one side are pharmacists who wish to open on those days and on the other is the Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association, which says opening on Sundays is a violation of legislation regarding the Sunday holiday.

Bulgaria: E-prescriptions Enter into Force

 

As of today, electronic prescriptions come into force, but not all pharmacies are ready for this step.

The medications prescribed by the GP may be sold to  patients after they tell the pharmacist their personal ID number and the date of issue of the prescription, deputy Minister of Health Zhenia Nacheva said. There won't be any need for the patient's prescription book.

Cosmetics turnover set to fall 11%

Greek cosmetics firms are expected to show an 11% decline in turnover at the end of the year, ending a growth run that itself had followed seven lean years during the financial crisis.

According to data by market research firm ICAP, total turnover for Greek cosmetics firms will reach 772 million euros, in wholesale prices, from €867 million in 2019.

Law bans sale of antibiotics without prescription

Antibiotics will only be available to patients with a prescription as of Thursday, according to a new provision by the Ministry of Health passed in February.

From now on, the prescription will be electronic and will state the specific illness for which it is necessary to administer the drug as well as the dosage.
