Latest sexual abuse complaint implicates prominent director

Αllegations of sexual abuse implicating a prominent actor and director have reportedly been filed with the Athens Prosecutor's Office amid a recent flurry of complaints involving the country's theater industry.

The alleged victim of the abuse has also filed a lawsuit against the director.

Pole vaulter sues Athens's OAKA stadium management over injury

World champion Kostantinos Filippidis has sued the management of the OAKA Olympic Stadium in northern Athens over an injury sustained while practicing at the facility last month.

In the suit, the pole vaulter claims that he sustained a tear of the meniscus when landing during a practice jump because there was a large hole beneath the flooring and his leg twisted on impact.

Filippidis earns silver at Indoor Europeans with a record

Greek pole-vault champion Kostas Filippidis improved his own national record to win silver at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade on Friday.

Filippidis cleared 5.85 meters, matching his two Polish rivals who finished first and third on a different number of efforts in the final.

His previous national record was 5.84 m. from February 2016.

Jelaca declared best female athlete in Balkans

BELGRADE - Serbian female athlete Tatjana Jelaca was declared the best female athlete in the Balkans.

Jelaca won silver in javelin throw at the 2014 European Athletics Championships in Zurich and thus beat the national record.

At the ceremony in Bucharest, Jelaca received the award from the Vice President of the International Association of Athletics Federation Sebastian Coe.

Pole vault record on same day as three doping cases

Greek track and field had a mixed weekend, as on the same day as Katerina Stefanidi matched the national record in pole vault as well as the leading result in Europe so far this season, three Greek athletes were confirmed to have used banned substances, including Greece’s shot put champion.
