With help from the EU, foreign experts and the state, olive oil farmers into southern Montenegro are harvesting bigger profits and better-quality oil from orchards that date back thousands of years.

The Ministry of Agriculture has prepared a National Plan for the Development of Organic Farming until 2027. The goal is to establish this country as leader in a number of bio-products. The sustainability of small organic farms will be promoted through their cooperation. Opportunities for free counseling and professional training for bio-farmers are being launched.

The agave plant has bloomed 10 meters in the Central Anatolian province of Osmaniye's Kadirli district. The plant, which can survive up to 100 years and blooms only once in its lifetime, draws great interest of people.

Olive trees have dotted Turkey's landscape for centuries. Olive oil is a staple of Turkish cuisine and a key ingredient in the country's famous handmade olive oil soap.

Officers of Attica Security's Anti-Drugs Squad on Monday arrested one man in connection to a cannabis plantation discovered in a forested area near the village of Inoi, in West Attica.
The 50-year-old suspect is believed to be responsible for the organization, cultivation and supervision of the plantation.

Anti-narcotics police in Turkey have seized more than 1.2 million cannabis sativa roots and 337 kilograms (742.958) of marijuana in an air-supported operation, officials said on June 28.

Officers from the narcotics unit of the Attica security police located and seized hundreds of cannabis trees from an agricultural area in Artemida, eastern Attica, and arrested a 35-year-old foreign national believed to have been responsible for running the illegal cultivation, police said on Tuesday.
