EU Capital of Culture Plovdiv Becomes Attractive Business Destination

Plovdiv is a brand new and ever more attractive business destination in Europe. The town has recently been proclaimed the European Capital of Culture of 2015. The ''Trakiya Economic Zone'' project is currently shaping to be one of the biggest investment projects for Bulgaria in the near future.

Plovdiv Now Officially Proclaimed European Capital of Culture

The title European Capital of Culture has officially been awarded to Plovdiv Tuesday. 

The second biggest Bulgarian city will be sharing the title with the Italian city of Matera.  

'' This title is a true recognition for Plovdiv and gives a chance to Bulgaria to come forward and become more noticeable on the European map,'' said Ivan Totev, Mayor of Plovdiv. 

Bulgaria's Plovdiv to Be Officially Declared European Capital of Culture 2019

Plovdiv will be officially declared European Capital of Culture for 2019 at a Tuesday meeting of the Council of the European Union.

The issue has been included in the provisional agenda of the meeting on May 19, according to Darik radio.

Plovdiv Mayor Ivan Totev and his deputy Stefan Stoyanov left for Brussels on Monday.

EU to Provide BGN 32 B for Bulgaria's Sustainable Development

Bulgaria will be receiving BGN 32 B through EU funds during the upcoming program period 2014-2020 for sustainable development. The main purpose of the program will be to decrease the differences between regions, as stated by the Minister of Environment and Waters, Ivelina Vasileva during the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities of South-East Europe held in Plovdiv.

The new British Ambassador to Sofia Emma Hopkins demonstrated her knowledge of the Bulgarian language in a video address, which was published on the Facebook page of the embassy on Monday.

Mrs Hopkins shared that she was honoured to be the new British Ambassador to Sofia and together with her family, they were happy to have Bulgaria as their new home.

Bulgaria's Plovdiv to Host Prestigious Wine Contest in 2016

The second-largest Bulgarian city Plovdiv is to host the renowned Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2016, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova has said.

At a ceremony in the town of Jesolo (in the province of Venice, Italy) where this year's event is taking place, Angelokova announced the event is to take place between April 29 and May 1, 2016, according to news website Dnevnik.bg.
