Saudi women reject stigma to embrace pole dancing

When yoga instructor Nada took up pole dancing, the backlash in deeply conservative Saudi Arabia was both harsh and quick, and she has struggled to overcome the fallout ever since.

Family and friends in the capital Riyadh told her the gruelling form of exercise - a test of strength and coordination involving acrobatic movements on a vertical pole - was "so wrong."

Evirdiki Valavani is a sports journalist who is taking part in Skai TV’s reality show “Survivor”. The hot reporter, who is a member of the “Famous” team in the show, was seen in a video sporting a pink bikini while showcasing her pole dancing skills. Evirdiki wrapped her legs around a pole in the video aired on Alpha TV’s morning show “Eleni”.

The 36-year-old mum-to-be started pole dancing in 2007 and in a post on her blog talks about her pregnancy experience responding also to the negative comments she has received about posing on the pole pregnant.
